As far as finding a bank that does not use Chexsystems, the options vary from state to state. While some states have many that do not, other states have only a few. But regardless of where you live, there are options to help everyone. In over 7 years now I have always been able to find a bank for everyone.

I have seen most of the lists being sold on various sites for $20-$300 or more I can tell you that most of them are inaccurate and outdated. Many have my old information. Many of them are trying to sell you something else and want to see you fail so you will be convinced to buy a pre-paid card that they offer. So they will offer you a list that is CRAP. Be VERY careful! Applying at banks that deny you can cause you to be denied at one that may have otherwise approved you.
Many sites and forums that have free lists are incorrect and not updated as mine are or are filled with spyware and adware. Many forums try to copy mine but never can keep up with all the updates.

They are very nice and have the best customer service. Just call and explain that you need a membership number to open a checking account and it is as simple as that. If you have the 50.00 deposit you can give it to them with a credit card right over the phone, they will set you up at that same moment. The account shows up online in just 2 days. You will get your cards and checks in about a week.
Please note: USAA does use EWS. I have been told by CS that they do not use chexsystems or telecheck and only now use EWS. I am not sure if this is 100% correct but they have never used chexsystems at all
