Credit Counseling Services

Many people reported to Chexsystems, Telecheck and Early Warning Services(EWS) may be having a hard time maintaining their finances.

Many people are fast to run to a debt settlement service which can many times hurt your credit more than a bankruptcy. Debt Settlement companies rarely show on time monthly payments. In fact there are times where an entire year may go by without a payment being made to some of your creditors which in turn destroys your credit during this period.

If you're current on your accounts, or even just several months behind, and you want to maintain a good credit score, then debt settlement is not for you.

Consider consumer credit counseling which will allow you to enter into a debt management plan with your creditors may be a better solution. There's a possibility to reduce your monthly payments, but you'll still be able to pay your balance in full. As long as your payments continue to be made on time each month, consumer credit counseling does not hurt your credit.

You can work out your own payment plan with your creditors. If you've missed one or two payments, you can often get a temporary reduction – six months to one year – in your monthly payment and interest rate.

If you have decided that bankrupty is the best alternative for you, I suggest you talk it over with an attorney first (they have free colsultations) to help you make your final decision. If bankruptcy is your choice, don't delay and wait month after month to file. File right away!! Bankruptcy will impact your credit negatively but it will have the least negative effect on your credit and score if you don't delay and allow your bills to go unpaid for many many months before filing.
