Chexsystems Report

You should know that Chexsystems is a consumer reporting agency, just like Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union. Therefore, you are protected by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

They are concidered a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

(f) The term “consumer reporting agency” means any person which, for monetary fees, dues, or on a cooperative nonprofit basis, regularly engages in whole or in part in the practice of assembling or evaluating consumer credit information or other information on consumers for the purpose of furnishing consumer reports to third parties, and which uses any means or facility of interstate commerce for the purpose of preparing or furnishing consumer reports.

Yes it is possible for money owed to banks that report to chexsystems to also show up on other credit reports.

When you request a report from chexsystems, ews, or telecheck, avoid giving them any information that is not absolutely necessary.

For example: if they ask where you work and for the address, phone etc,. I would not give them the number. Tell them you are currently unemployed.

If they ask for current checking account information. Simply say you have none. Do not volunteer any information.
