Small businesses are a huge growing number of those now being reported to chexsystems for " fraud". We see small businesses that will accept checks from their customers and if the check for any reason does not clear, the banks will blame the person that deposited the check.
A growing number of banks are now blaming small businesses for these bad checks and closing their accounts, reporting them to chexsystems and worse, reporting them for "suspected fraud or fraud"
Never accept checks from individuals you do not know. If there is not an established business or personal relationship, you are taking a huge risk.

Legally, the account owner is bound by the agreement that was signed when the account was opened. Most standard agreements indicate the primary account holder is responsible for deposits and will maintain the account in a positive status.
We know that looking for a business account can be very difficult once you are reported to chexsystems. We have found several banks and credit unions that will open accounts for those reported. Many of the local banks that we have found also offer business checking. Please join our forum for that information and help
